Christ Centered
Counseling
As Christians, your faith in God can and should be an
integral part of the healing process. Christ himself said
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden
and I will give you rest”. Matt. 11:28 NKJV

Life is filled with many mountains and valleys for
Christians as well as for non-Christians. The difference
is during counseling session we invite Christ to join us
as our mediator, friend, savior and peace-giver. Jesus
never promised us that we would have a life of ease
once we accepted Him as Lord of our lives.  He did
promise “And surely I am with you always, even to the
end of the age”. Matt. 28: 20b NIV.  Jesus repeatedly told us that He is the answer to all our problems. Problems
come in many sizes and shapes including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, trauma, and
life’s challenges. Christ wants to help us with every issue not matter how trivial it may seem, if it is important to us it is
important to Him. It is His desire to bless us, comfort us and relieve us of our burdens.

Christ centered counseling sessions begin and end with prayer. We ask God to guide and direct each session, to
show us the right path to take in the session and to give us insight and understanding into our thoughts and emotions.
Paul said “Let us come boldly to the throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of
need”. Hebrews 4:6 NIV

What I bring into a session is life experience along with education and a strong Christian background. I believe that
God sent me to college to become a counselor in order to help people through the healing process. I learned many
different styles and methods of counseling and I take an eclectic approach with each client. We work together with
God to discover which method will work best for you. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is just one of the methods I use
to help people change their negative thinking processes and dysfunctional behaviors.

Christ is the ultimate healer. Throughout His ministry He healed people of all sorts of maladies. Frequently when He
healed them, Jesus stated that their faith was an integral part of the process.  The woman who was healed just by
touching the hem of His garment is a prime example. Jesus says to the woman, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.
Go in peace and be freed of your suffering.” Mark 5:34 NKJV

My personal favorite Bible verse is “For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you”, so we may
boldly say the Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13: 5b-6  It is my prayer that
you will allow God to use your faith in Him to help you heal. We will work together with Christ as our guide through
the counseling process and in the end your faith will heal you.

May God bless you and comfort you and free you of your suffering.
